Horai-Kan (Mountain Lodge) has a deep relationship with the Kame-iwa rock which enshrines Hachidai Ryuo (One of the Buddhism gods). Kameiwa is a large rock which looks like a turtle crawling on the ground, which is situated on the left side of the way to the summit from the lodge. Hachidai Rryuo is a god of water. As a holy place, Kameiwa rock had been being taken care of by the people who have the Mt.Fuji faith Fujiko. Now, the god is worshiped at the large household-altar of Horai-Kan. Horai-Kan is situated at the 8th station of Mt.Fuji, 3,150m above sea level. You will see the lodge after you finished climbing a rocky stretch starting from the 7th station. It is the second mountain lodge that you start counting from the first-aid station at the 8th station. It takes approximately 3 hours from the 5th station to the lodge. It takes 2-3 hours from the lodge to the peak. The service: lodging (reservation by phone call only) and selling commodities. No service of light meals and rest-station room. Uncover
Viewing Mount Fuji on its own is splendid enough, but it is in relation to the surrounding mountains that one can begin to comprehend the sheer scale and size of Japan’s most iconic mountain. This observation deck offers that opportunity.
Recover
All throughout Aokigahara Forest are underground caves formed by lava from the massive eruption of Mount Fuji in 864 CE. One of these is the Fugaku Wind Cave, which has an average internal temperature of 3°C and was historically used as a natural refrigerator.
