Yuki Park

Yuki Park is located in the Otamachi neighborhood of Kofu, about 2 kilometers or a 10-minute drive south of Kofu Station. The peaceful park is popular with people of all ages and is home to the city zoo. In early May, the park hosts the annual Shonoki Festival, which attracts many visitors for its plant market and other events. Both the zoo and the park stand on land that once belonged to the Ichirenji Buddhist temple, and old temple buildings can still be seen on the edge of the grounds. The canal running through the park and zoo creates a more natural, relaxed atmosphere, making a quiet walk here a great way to recharge after exploring the city.

Yuki Park Zoo was established in 1919. The zoo is home to many exotic animals, including flamingoes, penguins, lions, and an elephant. Keep an eye out for the Australian kookaburra, Chinese red pandas, and the Malayan sun bear. The zoo offers fun for the whole family. Children can get up close with farm animals such as pigs, goats, and rabbits at the petting zoo, or try riding one of the friendly ponies, while the outdoor snack bar is the perfect place for parents to take a break. The zoo also has its own small amusement park with old-fashioned arcade games and a charming child-sized train.
