The Fujiyoshida area’s roadside rest and shopping area offers the visitor splendid views of Mount Fuji, accessible restrooms, 200 parking spaces, and much more.
The shop in the main building sells freshly harvested local highland fruits and vegetables, as well as locally brewed sake, ready-to-eat condiments, and souvenirs. Depending on the season, there may be Chinese cabbage, corn, leeks, grapes, peaches, and more. When available, the Fuji cherry soft serve ice cream comes highly recommended.
The canteen to the far left of the main building is an excellent source of inexpensive, delicious meals like soup noodles and set lunches. Yoshida udon––chewy wheat noodles in hot soup––is particularly recommended. The Fujiyama Beer Hall offers Western-style dishes with German-style beer made with spring water from Mt. Fuji. Next door, the Montbell outlet provides everything one could need for outdoor activities in the area.
Adjacent to the parking lot is the Mt. Fuji Radar Dome. Once used for meteorological observation, it was converted into an exhibition space to educate visitors about meteorology. Those with pets may want to pay a visit to the dog run, a wide, open space for owners and their pets to play in.
