In November 2023, Yamanashi Prefecture, in partnership with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), hosted the 8th Seminar for Globalization with JETs. This year's theme, "Rethinking Regional Revitalization: A Global Perspective on Yamanashi's Past, Present and Future," provided a unique platform for JET Programme participants to delve into the region's rich history and explore its potential for future growth.

The three-day event offered a rare opportunity for participants to engage with a diverse range of local actors, including small business owners, local government officials, volunteer guides, local elders, “local vitalization cooperators,” family business owners, museum curators, traditional craftsmen, and more. By understanding Yamanashi's past and present, participants were encouraged to envision a sustainable future for the region and consider their role in shaping it.

The core of the seminar was a series of four immersive itineraries that showcased some of the prefecture's most iconic regions: Mount Fuji, Kofu, Koshu, and Kyonan. Each itinerary highlighted not only the natural beauty and cultural heritage of these areas, but also the human element that drives their vitality.
