Are you in need of a tranquil escape from the bustling city?

Well, look no further!

Only an hour and a half drive from Kofu City in the south lies Narada Village, a hidden gem nestled deep in the mountains of Yamanashi Prefecture’s western region in Hayakawa-cho. Surprisingly, this picturesque haven is still undiscovered by many tourists. A scenic lake and river, surrounded by nature await you, along with a hot spring offering breathtaking views of the Southern Alps.

Venture into the surrounding area to discover a hillside shrine and the charming Kagiya café restaurant—a two-century-old building serving mouth-watering pasta, pizza, and even unique dishes like honey cheese pizza. The blend of honey and cheese is a delightful culinary experience that might just have you ordering seconds! Don't miss the chance to explore the small gift shop inside the restaurant, featuring locally grown ingredients and tableware.

Don't forget to take a short stroll to Narao Shrine, located near the river, where you'll encounter a peculiar old fountain, rumoured to be one of Narada's seven wonders. Narada promises a serene blend of nature and ancient shrines, offering a perfect retreat.

At Aji no Daioh Sohonten, we were transported back to the Edo period, immersing ourselves in the ambiance of days gone by. Despite its somewhat ominous feel, the building's speakers recounted a captivating tale, making for a truly memorable experience! For enthusiasts of history, a neighbouring museum awaits, showcasing tools from bygone eras and featuring explanatory videos, ensuring an engaging and interactive exploration.

Photography enthusiasts, this is a must-add to your bucket list! From the majestic Mt. Fuji to the surrounding mountains of Yamanashi, each season unfolds in stunning visuals.

Narada Shiranekan Hot Spring & Onmitsudo Kakigori

Following a tiring stroll through the breath-taking natural beauty that Narada boasts, why not unwind with a soothing soak in the legendary hot spring? Renowned for its natural spring water with reputed healing properties, this mythical spring is said to date back 1,300 years when a king, discovering its restorative qualities, found relief from his ailments.

If you're in need of a cool and refreshing treat after the steamy hot spring, look no further! I highly recommend Onmitsudo, a charming family-owned shaved ice café. Indulge in carefully crafted shaved ice with a variety of flavours, including matcha, roasted soybean, lemon, and honey. They offer different sizes, including kid-friendly portions and larger servings.

What sets this place apart is the unique climbing wall positioned in the centre of the shop, creating a delightful tree house ambiance. Perfect for bouldering enthusiasts, it adds an extra layer of enjoyment. Don't fret if heights make you a bit uneasy; you can still unwind and savour the scenery while relishing your shaved ice.

All of the places introduced are within walking distance to each other!
