The Yamanakako Roadrace is a marathon course around Lake Yamanakako that offers views of nearby Mt. Fuji. The course goes around Lake Yamanakako, returns to the starting point, and then goes another 4 km. After about 17 km, the course turns back toward the finish line. The 33rd race was held in May 2013, and 12,005 runners participated in either the approximately 21-km course (half marathon) or the approximately 13-km course (loop around Lake Yamanakako). About 30% of the participants in the approximately 13-km course were women. This is a course that can be enjoyed by runners of all levels from beginner to veteran.
There is hardly any elevation difference, and the path is gentle and easy to run on. The Mama-no-Mori slope and the slope to Yamanakako Junior High School are the more difficult spots. Please run being careful of how you set your pace.

At the shore opposite the starting point, the course runs on a tree-lined road. (Photo shows course during race.)
About 3.5 km after passing the starting point, a plaza will come into view on the left, and the course turns back at the small intersection just before this. (Photo shows course during race.)
The finish line is the front of Yamanakako Junior High School. (Photo shows course during race.)
